Bee Camp is a day-long, in-person, hands-on beekeeping 101 class. Bee Camp runs from 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM. You'll learn everything you need to know to get your first beehive. Lunch is provided. Includes suit and equipment rental for in-hive instruction.

Learn how and when to pull honey from your hives. This class is appropriate for newer or aspiring beekeepers. A hands-on honey extraction course, you'll extract honey from a real hive and learn the process from start to finish. Then, take home a pint of honey you extracted!

Varroa mites are perhaps the greatest threat to your bees. Come learn with us about the mite, its reproductive cycle, and what we can do to stop it. We will discuss hygenic stock and mite control methods as well as treatment free beekeeping.

What do bees do in the winter? They wait! Come to this class to learn how to condense, insulate, inspect, treat, and feed your bees throughout the winter.

This indoor winter class is a shorter version of our famous Bee Camp without the hands-on component. Winter is a great time to prep for beekeeping. We will meet at the store and teach you everything you need to know to get started.

You asked for it, here it is! For all our friends who have come through the beginners' classes, this is a special class you won't find elsewhere. A panel of 3 professional beekeepers is ready to answer your questions and take your production and survival rates to the next level.
This class will take you casually through a beekeeping year, allowing for tangents, in an open forum style, with three professionals. We will discuss treatments and timings, feeds and additives, problems and possible solutions. We will discuss splitting and other modes of swarm control, and how to sell bees and honey. Which products are a gimmick? Which products actually help? What action do you take when 3 beekeepers provide 5 answers?

This class will take place at Heirloom Springs in Amherst, VA. Learn the basics of beekeeping and get hands on experience with beekeeping equipment. Taste honeys, enjoy farm fresh refreshments, tour the farm.
